Lasagna
November 19, 2008
Ok, a few nights ago we made some mushroom lasagna. Served with some homemade garlic bread and broccoli. It was really good. So good, that I am eating leftovers right now.
And now finally my first pizza review. If you’re gonna order from Five Star, this is what you should get. Its a slice of cheezy sticks topped with tomatos, pineapples, and jalapenos. So tasty, but not technically ‘pizza’
Cannoli

So.. I missed my chance to write my first post actually about pizza. Theres a place in town called New York Pizza Plus, formerly I <3 NY Pizza. We ordered 4 different slices and before i remembered to take pictures, we ate them. Next time, I will remember. Fortunately I got a picture of their cannoli. I haven’t had a good one since I lived in NJ, but this one comes pretty close. And nothing goes better with dessert than a big cup of coffee.
Home brewing

My girlfriend got a home beer brewing kit for her birthday. So yesterday, we got to work making our first batch. We had the ingredients to make a nut brown ale. Here are some pictures:
The airlock, lets CO2 out and no oxygen in.
Then, we enjoyed a delicious dinner of spaghetti and clams in a red sauce with artichokes.

Stuffed Squash
November 3, 2008
I think i’m going to take a picture of what we make at home and post them here. Tonight we made stuffed squash. We roasted a butternut then scooped out the inside. We mixed that with celery, shallots, portabellas, garlic, italian fontina and gruyere, a touch of bread crumb and egg, and then stuffed the skin and cooked it again. Also on the side we had braised brussel sprouts and green beans. YUM. Here is a picture:

something we are struggling with at home is making omelettes. I think so far I have only made the perfect omelette once. Usually, like today, we get about halfway there and it ends up breaking and turns into scrambled eggs. While it still tastes good, we added steamed asparagus, sauteed onions and cherry tomatoes, and cheese of course, we still get really bummed that our omelettes do not turn out. The internet isn’t really a good help when it comes to tips. Use butter in your pan, don’t use butter, olive oil, stir your eggs in the pan, cover and do not touch, add milk to your beaten eggs, low heat, medium heat, WHAT IS THE SECRET?
First post
November 3, 2008
This is my first time ever writing a blog. I plan to write about food, pizza mostly, also anything I cook at home or at work. Maybe even a few good restaurant or take-out experiences. I’m sure it will take some time to get the hang of this whole thing, one day I hope to be skilled enough to start posting some good music on my page too since thats what first got me into this idea. so how about I start out with whats going on today.
My girlfriend is eating fresh roasted beets, they smell really good. I want a bite. mmm very sweet
